Summer and Claira were doing a drop test with foam and their phones inside the bin . They wanted to see what areas were weak. Once they found it out, then they could transport fossils with the bin to a lab, hypothetically. They can see how fragile fossils are when they are being tossed around in a bin in the back of a truck. The Dino-Mights are interested in this whole drop test experiment because they want to see how they can get fossils to the lab without harming or damaging the fossils at all.
Dino Mights vs Indiana Bones, both teams preparing for regionals!
People who are in these Lego League teams, representing Southwestern are Indiana Bones and Dino-Mights!
Indiana Bones: Nora, Mallory, Ryker, Jonah, Lily, and Sawyer.
Dino-Mights: Liam, Katie, Kobe, Claira, and Summer.
This is our team's project, the Fossil Finder. The Fossil Finder makes sure that fossils can make it safely to a lab without cracking or breaking . It has a humidifier, an inclinometer sencer, foam to protect the fossil, a battery, and a solar panel to charge the battery when it's low. If we can make it to states with your help, we are gonna try to make a bigger version of our project to fit bigger fossils.
A humidifier is something we need to have in our project because without it, the fossils would oxify and decay, a process known as a pyrit disease.
An inclinometer sencer has time and shows what time it is no matter where it is . It also has acceleration, the speed an object is moving in a direction. The inclinometer also has Angular Velocity, which is how fast an object can move over time. The inclinometer also has an angle, two rays that touch as a vertex.
Right below is one of the classes that we were able to show our science experiment. We all thank Mrs, Hahn, Mrs, Goffinet, and Mrs. Garza for taking the time to be able to listen to our project presentation and letting the students learn more about the importance in keeping fossils safe!
This is our team's t-shirt design , as you can see our team name is the Dino-Mights. Our t-shirt design has dynamites in the background and a skeleton of a dinosaur also holding dynamites.
